elmuymoy is a weird name to use, right?
Well, like everything in life, there’s a reason behind it. So, bear with me, it’s story time.
In Mexico, being ‘el muy muy’ is an expression associated with someone who is pretentious without reason. Back in college, ‘elmuymoy’ came about as a playful twist from my friends because I was known for being very curious and nerdy. I wasn’t trying to be pretentious; rather, I was passionate and fully immersed in what I did. Over time, I decided to keep ‘elmuymoy’ as a reminder of that curiosity, which continues to guide me in my design work today.
Design vision
I approach design with the mindset of a curious explorer, constantly asking questions and figuring out how things work. My focus is on creating experiences that make sense for people, solving challenges in a way that feels natural and intuitive.
Design, for me, is all about balance, figuring out what makes sense, connecting the right pieces, and making sure things feel both creative and functional. No need to overcomplicate; it’s about focusing on what works and what matters. Every project’s a chance to learn, test, and improve.
Design is human, and people connect with what feels right. That’s why I believe data is super useful, but I’m not obsessed with numbers. I’d rather be data-informed because people don’t behave like formulas.
What I can do
I turn ideas into seamless, user-friendly experiences. Whether it’s designing a clean and intuitive interface, crafting a smooth user experience, or building a site, I got you covered.
Branding is always in the mix. I make sure my designs don’t just look good, they actually work for the brand and help it hit its goals.
I’ve also worn the project manager hat plenty of times, connecting people, keeping things on track, and making sure everyone’s in the loop. Fast-paced environments? Been there, done that, and I know how to keep things running smoothly.
How I work
Design isn’t about following a strict formula, it’s about crafting solutions that work for both people and brands. I approach every project with this explorer mindset, diving deep into research, understanding what people need, and aligning that with the brand and the business.
These are some of my key working principles
01
Remain flexible
The process isn’t always linear. I adapt and refine as I go, staying focused on the end goal but leaving room for exploration and improvement.
02
Curiosity drives me
I start by gathering insights, whether through research, interviews, or data analysis, to fully understand the problem from many angles.
03
Fail it till you make it
The goal is to get to a place where the solution feels intuitive, where the user doesn’t even have to think about how to use it. It just clicks.
04
Asking questions? That’s already part of the answer
Feedback loops are important. I welcome input from team members and stakeholders throughout the process. This collaborative approach ensures the design stays in the right direction.
05
First make it work, then make it look good
My goal is always to create designs that feel natural and intuitive, balancing the experience with brand strategy and business objectives.
06
Say it right, say it simple
The right words—whether in tone, vocabulary, or timing—are crucial. A skillfully designed experience can fall short if the language isn’t thoughtfully aligned.
07
Progress beats perfection
Design is all about testing and improving. I try not to get stuck chasing perfection because the sooner something ships, the sooner it starts making an impact, and there’s always room to tweak things later.
What I like
Being creative doesn’t mean I’m always designing. I actually spend time doing other things that help keep the ideas flowing.
